It’s been a hot minute! And many things have changed.

First of all, my #EorzeaTourist project went down the drain because Squenix themselves decided to create the same thing, and it’s called “Mister Foxclon’s Neighborhood”: https://eu.finalfantasyxiv.com/blog/003685.html

Of course, nothing keeps me from keep doing it, which I actually might consider, but this is not a priority right now. Because something big happened.

I was diagnosed with Obstructive Sleep Apnea.

My life’s been super weird for the last 2–3 years. I was super tired all the time, I gained a lot of weight, and only stayed in bed most of the time. While I thought that was just some sedentary shit, it was a lot more: I was snoring louder and louder, waking up with my snores, choking out of nowhere with my saliva and feeling like taking naps that would last up to 4 hours.

I went to the doctor to check my nose because I can’t breathe well through it, and with all the examinations he thought I might have sleep Apnea. Did the sleep study and bam, it’s there and it’s bad. I woke up 30 times in an hour, an average of once every 2 minutes. First step to treatment: CPAP machine!

I got my machine on 16 Jan 2025 and started using it right away. I needed a full mask, so now everybody jokes I became Darth Vader, or Bane, or something similar. XD I have to say all the humor from my Twitch Viewers, friends and husband is really helping me take this very lightly. I even decided to call my CPAP Machine “Pikachu”, because it’s like in the anime, it’ll be with me anywhere I go.

FIRST NIGHT

It was not very nice XD

The air in the tube was super cold, so my nose was cold all night it bothered me a lot. I also woke up many times because the mask would move and some air would escape and scare me. I had to wake up to pee, and putting the mask back on scared any sleep I had left for a while. It took me forever to go back to sleep again. I also felt my pillow was too low. According to my husband, I am still snoring.

At 7am I removed the mask, because I was tired of having it on. But still I managed to wear it for 6 hours straight. I got 48 minutes of deep sleep, according to the machine’s app I have on my phone.

I took a 4-hour nap later.

SECOND NIGHT

Thanks to a suggestion on my discord, I slept better: I ran the tube under my duvet, it warmed up the air and my nose wasn’t cold anymore! I also adjusted the mask to it wouldn’t move when I slept on my side (and I am a super side-sleeper).

I added another pillow, and that also helped.

I woke up again to go to the bathroom and some other times to turn on my other side.

I was asked about the machine’s noise. It’s a very soft wind noise, so it feels like white noise. It’s not bothering me or my husband, who’s blessed with good sleep.

As I am writing this I don’t feel like taking a nap. Let’s see how the day progresses.

According to the app, I had 31 minutes of deep sleep.
